2011 Block 8 Zinfandel
Planted on the venerable San Lorenzo vineyard in Alexander Valley. Flavors of cherry compote, raspberry preserves and briary spice. Dusty tannins with soft round finish.
The nose exhibits freshly opened cherry blossoms in spring and is light and delicately lifted by oak-imparted with vanilla aromas. The bright acidity highlights the entry through the finish and has soft tannins in the mid-palate.
Concentrated red fruit of raspberries and cherries with subtle notes of anise. A cool entry with nice acidity leads to a rich mid-palate with a lingering finish that intermingles fruit and Sangiovese’s dusty tannins.
This varietal indigenous to Southern Italy is known for producing extremely full-bodied wines with firm tannins. Those who are fond of Brunellos or Barolos are sure to enjoy this wine.
This is a rich blend of 38% Aglianico, 34% Syrah and 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, all from our Home Ranch estate. With the Italian varietal Aglianico at its core, Defiant offers violet aromas, bold blackberry flavor and undertones of earth and cracked black pepper.
